Bump on the road...

Anyone who has traveled enough, particularly to less-developed locales, will tell you that there will be bumps on the road…but usually you expect those bumps to come once you are actually on the road. Our plan was simple: Get up early, gather the few remaining items we had left after the movers, pack the car, and drive down to DC. Yeah…we were delusional. We got up early. Gathering the “few remaining items” took longer than we had thought…as in 6 hours longer. Delusional. Packing the car took longer than we thought…because we had to go and rent another car to fit all of the “few remaining items”. Delusional. So not only did we leave much later, in two (not one) cars, but we also managed to leave right at dusk…as in driving west on the Mass Pike for two hours with the sun directly in our eyes. Thankfully it had been a fairly warm (by Boston standards) and sunny day…until we stopped off the Jersey Turnpike and it started to flurry. We had planned to arrive in DC soon after dark in time for dinner…but after a busy morning, a long afternoon, and an even longer evening, we got to our destination just before 1am. Delusional. This morning we woke up to a list of the few last errands to run before boarding our plane tomorrow afternoon…we won’t go into details, but we can assure you we were once again, delusional. We are still working on those “few last errands”. Keep your fingers crossed for tomorrow!
